Marsh Dondurma in numbers: 16 musicians, 13 years, 5 albums, 20 meters musical instrument wind pipes and one huge sousaphone! A band that does not stop. The sixteen Marsh Dondurma members, who just returned from a performance at a jazz festival in Canada, are launching their fifth album, and all this while working on a project for children that will premier at the end of the year. Starting from a street show between the vegetable and spice stands of the Mahane Yehuda Jerusalem market, the band moved to clubs and festivals in Israel and to performances throughout the world. After seeing them by chacge in a performance, Barry Sakharof invited them to record with him. Over the years they collaborated with Shlomo Gronich, Shay Tsabari and Liora Itzhak, and now they will host Shaanan Streett (HaDag Nachash) at the premier performance.
The new album, more precisely vinyl, includes 5 segments: the theme segment Open that was composed by Eylon Tushiner, Ariel Zilber’s song “Ten li Koach” with an arrangement of the trombone musician Yaron Uzana that disassembles and reassembles the song, “Jumbo” that was composed by the band, “Haluptza” that is a popular melody, and “Dardar” that was composed by Udi Raz and is a concentrated capsule of local spices.
