Premiering in Jerusalem – “Public Movement” returns to the first time the army talks to us, about us – the “personal conversation” when summoned for the first recruitment order. The army appears in varied ways, in this case embodied in the body of a young girl, a soldier in compulsory service who is also called a ‘Psycho-technical Diagnostician’. The “interview” model was developed in 1955, and to this day is the main tool employed by the army to learn about the emotional world of every defense service candidate. Almost every man in Israel, regardless of whether he served in the army, has an emotional profile archived in the state’s possession. “Public Movement” recruited a group of former psycho-technical diagnosticians, the interviewers, to reenact the “interview” as a performative model, and in cooperation with the public will stage the artistic event as an arena of knowledge transfer.
